Real Weddings: Linda & Scott May 2, 2014

Linda and Scott’s wedding was at one of the most breathtaking venues I have ever worked at: Nestldown in Los Gatos, CA.  The grounds are stunning, the fairy tale cottage is magical, the koi filled pond is serene. I could spend two weeks at the venue exploring all its nooks and crannies.  Linda and Scott are such an amazing couple and I was so honored to be a part of their day.  Many thanks to Jessica of Stout Photography for capturing all of these amazing images.  La Bocca Fina provided some of the best wedding food I’ve had and Cassie from Los Gatos DJ was such a pleasure to work with. Audrey from Botanica created simple yet elegant florals for the couple and Stef from Honey Paperie customized paper goods that fit perfectly with the overall theme of the wedding.  The bride was made beautiful by the amazing team of Renee and Leilani of Hello Glam.  The cake was provided by Edith Meyer Wedding Cakes and the whole day was captured on video by Matthew David Cinema.

Real Weddings: Christine & Dale May 20, 2014

Christine, Dale and I  worked together for a long time on their wedding so I couldn’t be more excited to see all of our hard work come together in one magical day for them.  The couple was married in a traditional Catholic ceremony at The Cathedral of the Blessed in Downtown Sac.  Then the guests took a short walk down to Elks Tower Ballroom for the reception while the couple was whisked around town in their Rolls Royce!  The guests were greeted to a room filled with fun tunes played by Steve from Function 45.  He kept the party going into the wee hours of the night!  The amazing dinner was catered by Crisp Catering and all the rentals came from Classic Party Rentals.  Audrey from Botanica created some breathtaking floral arrangements that sat upon tables dressed in linens from La Tavola and Dena from Throne Invitations created stunning paper goods for the perfect finishing touches on the tables.  Earlier in the day the bride was made beautiful by Christi Reynolds and her hair was done by the bride’s good friend Nancy. The scrumptious dessert table and wedding cake was done by Carissa from Sugar & Spice Specialty Desserts (those desserts FLEW off that table faster than Carissa could put them out!).  The whole day was captured by the amazing Carmen Salazar (who also provided the fun photo booth for the wedding!).

Tissue Paper Flowers

Today I experimented with making some tissue paper flowers.  I have a new style shoot in mind utilizing tons of these flowers so I decided to try them out first on my daughters Girl Scout Daisy troop.  Her troop will be marching in the Picnic Day Parade tomorrow so I made flowers to represent each of the petals in the Girl Scout Daisy.  Each petal has a flower that stands for one element of the Girl Scout Law.

To make them, I used tissue paper, pipe cleaners, wooden dowels, moss, glue and then printed out the little tags.

I folded 6-10 sheets of tissue paper like a fan, attached a pipe cleaner to the middle and then trimmed the edges of the paper to the petal shape I wanted.  Then I pulled each sheet of tissue paper toward the center, attached to a wooden dowel, attached the tag and viola!

And here is how they all came out!

Real Weddings: Von & Huy Sept 14, 2013

Von and Huy had 3…yes 3 ceremonies for their big day last September!  The day started early with traditional Vietnamese ceremonies of a gift exchange and Tea Ceremonies at their families’ houses.  After lunch the couple had a traditional Catholic ceremony at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church before heading to Arden Hills for one more personalized ceremony officiated by one of Von’s former professors.  Their reception followed in the Gold Room at Arden Hills.  The gorgeous flowers were done by Audrey from Botanica and their scrumptious cake was done by Ettore’s.  The couple brought in an awesome band from LA, West Coast Music who kept the party hopping all night and the lighting was done by Extreme Productions.  The bride’s hair was done by Hana Kim and her makeup was done by Shana Beals.  And many thanks to Duy Ho Photography for all these amazing pictures of their special day.
